Siemens has been announced as an official supplier for Toronto 2015 ©Siemens AGSiemens Canada has been announced as the official supplier of medical imaging equipment for the Toronto 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

Siemens will help outfit the Polyclinic at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletes' Village, which will provide high-tech imaging to the healthcare team looking after more than 10,000 athletes and officials during the Games next year.

The equipment will include both portable and fixed digital X-ray equipment and ultrasound machines.

"Our partnership with Siemens Canada is great news for the athletes coming here to compete in the summer of 2015," said Toronto 2015 chief executive Saäd Rafi.

"This is just one more example of the ways we're providing a world-class experience for them both on and off the field.

"Siemens not only has deep roots in Canada but is also a recognised global leader in providing innovative health-care technology solutions."

German engineering and electronics company Siemens AG has been operating in Canada for more than a century and employs 4,600 people in 46 offices and 18 manufacturing and assembly facilities across Canada.

"We are excited to provide our cutting-edge medical technology - which is used in top hospitals and clinics worldwide - to rapidly treat athletes so they can compete at their best at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games," said Robert Hardt, President and chief executive of Siemens Canada.

Siemens joins the likes of Allstream, Beanfield Metroconnect, Coca-Cola, Pattison Outdoor Advertising, FUSE Marketing Group, McKesson Canada, Molson Coors, Royal Canadian Mint, Scalar and Schenker of Canada Ltd as official suppliers of Toronto 2015.

The Toronto 2015 Pan American Games are due to take place from July 10 to 26, while the Parapan American Games are scheduled for August 7 to 15.
