nicol davidDecember 30 - Nicol David, who has been the women's world number one squash player since 2006, has renewed her call for the sport to be included in the Olympics, vowing to fight for a place at the 2020 Games even though she is unlikely to be playing by then.

The Malaysian world champion, who presented a paper to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2009 when squash was turned down in favour of golf and rugby as additions to the 2016 Games, told The Star in Kuala Lumpur: "We will keep at it until the sport becomes an Olympic event.

"We will be getting together soon to prepare a bid for inclusion in the 2020 Games.

"We are expected to make our presentation to the IOC in September.

"We have to redouble our efforts to convince them that squash merits recognition.

"My dream has always been to play in the Olympics and I will do everything I can to see squash in the Games," added David, who said after winning the world title for a record sixth time in Rotterdam last month that she would willingly trade all six for one Olympic gold medal.

"It is discouraging that the IOC has rejected our appeal for the 2016 Olympics as well but I haven't given up hope."
