Kazan 2013 test events conclude

September 16 - The World University Shooting Championships have concluded in Kazan, bringing to an end the three key test events for next summer's Universiade.
Rafis Burganov, the chairman of the 2012 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Championships (WUC) Organising Committee, attended the event.
Burganov, also the Republic of Tatarstan's Minister of Youth Affairs, Sport and Tourism, was joined by Verena Burk, the FISU assessor chair of the FISU International Press Committee, and congratulated the organisers of the event.
"On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, let me extend my warmest congratulations to you on the conclusion of the championship," he said.
"We congratulate all the winners of this global sporting event, we congratulate all of you on finding new friends here and gaining invaluable experience."
The close of the Shooting Championships follow the World University Rowing and Canoe Sprint World Championships also held in Kazan.
Many of those who have competed in these three events will be back next year for the Universiade, which begins on July 6.
Recently, a delegation from FISU have been in the city inspecting preparations for next year's event.
Around 13,000 athletes from 200 countries will compete at the Universiade in 2013, which will be the biggest sports event in Russia since Moscow hosted the Olympics in 1980.
