Kevin Kisner leads the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Championship by one shot heading into tomorrow's final round.

The American began the day sharing the lead with Japan's Hideki Matsuyama at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Both men would card over-par third round scores to drop back, but Kisner did enough to remain out in front.

He scored a one-over 72 to end the day one shot in the lead, with Matsuyama falling a shot behind.

The Japanese golfer is joined in second place by American Chris Stroud, who achieved a level par round of 71.

Home hopes of success look high, with Justin Thomas the third American to be firmly in contention for the title.

He achieved a two-under 69 to move into joint fourth place, alongside South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen.

The pair lie on five-under par for the tournament.

Grayson Murray lies two shots further adrift, with the American followed by Canada’s Graham DeLaet and Italy’s Francesco Molinari on two-under par.

There was disappointment for Australia’s Jason Day as the 2015 champion carded a quadruple bogey eight on the 18th hole.

It saw him drop to level par for the tournament, eight shots off the lead.

Competition will conclude tomorrow.
