Croatia’s Amanda Mlinaric continued her promising debut at the Archery World Cup by reaching the third round of compound competition in Berlin.

The 16-year-old narrowly missed out on a top eight seeding from the qualification, which would have seen her receive a bye into the third round.

She instead faced Russia’s Diana Tontoeva in the second round with a closely fought tie ending in a shoot-off.

Mlinaric held her nerve to win the shoot-off 10-9, advancing to a third round encounter with Mexico’s Stephanie Salinas as a result.

"I couldn’t celebrate my birthday on Monday because I was in the car all day coming here but probably will when I’ve finished shooting," said Mlinaric.

Top seed Linda Ochoa-Anderson discovered her third round opponent having received a bye, with the Mexican due to face France’s Lucie Burnet tomorrow.

France’s Amelie Sancenot, the second seed, will take on Janine Meissner of Germany in the event being held alongside the Olympiastadion, centrepiece of the 1936 Olympic Games.

Men’s top seed Mike Schloesser of The Netherlands is due to face his compatriot Peter Elzinga in the third round of the men’s event.

Denmark’s second seed Stephan Hansen will meet Estonia’s Kristjan Puusepp on the other half of the draw.

In the men’s recurve competition, Brazil’s Marcus D’Almeida claimed a 7-3 win over Slovakia’s Jaraj Duchon in the second round.

His reward will be a showdown with top seed Kim Woojin of South Korea tomorrow.

Kim’s team-mate Im Dong Hyun, the second seed, is scheduled to take on Canada’s Hamilton Nguyen.

In the women’s recurve competition, South Korea’s Choi Misun will hope to justify her top seeding when she meets Russia’s Ksenia Perova.

Chang Hye Jin, also of South Korea, will meet Spain’s Monica Galisteo.
