Chinese Taipei and the United States will meet in the final of the World Baseball Softball Confederation Under-12 World Cup for the second tournament in a row.

Both countries won their last super round fixtures at the Tainan Municipal Stadium today to put them in the top two places in the table.

When the two sides met on Thursday (August 3), Chinese Taipei won impressively, thrashing the US 16-2.

This gave them some revenge after being beaten 7-2 in the final of the 2015 edition of the tournament at the same stadium by the US.

The host nation came up against Nicaragua today and proved too strong for their opponents as they recorded a 9-1 win.

After scoreless first innings, Taipei rocketed in front in the second with three runs before the same amount in both the third and fourth, putting Nicaragua to the sword.

The US faced neighbours Mexico in their final super round fixture of the tournament and were made to work hard for a 12-10 victory.

It was 2-2 after the first innings and Mexico took the lead with a single run in the second.

However, the US jumped ahead in the next with three runs.

This led to a feast of scores in the fourth innings with the Mexicans getting five before their rivals stepped up and bettered this by one.

The Mexicans added two in the fifth compared to one from the US, but after shutting out their rivals in the sixth, the defending champions secured the victory.

Mexico will now go into the bronze medal match and will face Japan, who beat South Korea 6-5 today.

This game will be played before the gold medal clash tomorrow.
