Australian Taekwondo has announced the squad of athletes that will represent the country at next month's Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade.

After calling for those interested in participating to submit entries, 35 sparring and 12 poomsae competitors came forward.

Australian Taekwondo then submitted their nominations to Australian University Sport (AUS), who have since approved the selections.

The event will be held in Taipei from August 19 to 30 with taekwondo due to be contested between August 20 and 26 at the Taoyuan Arena.

Juliet Contreras, Keshena Waterford, Ama Adjei, Catherine Risbey, Stephanie Freeman, Lorna Munro and Eve Ember make up the women's sparring squad.

The male sparring team includes Bailey Lewis, William Afonczenko, Thomas Auger, Thomas Afonczenko, Jack Marton, Hayder Shkara and Adam Meyers.

While sparring competitors make up the bulk of the team there are three poomsae athletes travelling.

Katarina Pavkovic will compete in the women's individual while Tran Phong will contest the men's.

Pavkovic will then team up with Kyle Knowles in the mixed event.

Australia's coaching staff have also been revealed with Danny Crkvencic, Ali Khalil, Alex Sootho and Joon No travelling as sparring coaches.

Yukyung Song will coach poomsae athletes.
