Double Olympic medallist Jessica Fox will be among the names hoping to top the podiums at the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe Slalom Under-23 and Junior World Championship in Bratislava.

Competition is set to get under way at Divoka Voda – Cunovo tomorrow and continue until Sunday (July 23).

Australia’s Fox, who won women’s K1 silver at London 2012 and then added a bronze medal at Rio 2016, heads the field in her preferred category.

She is set to be tested during the competition in the Slovakian capital city by Great British duo Kimberley Woods and Mallory Franklin, while Brazilian Ana Satila and Austria’s Viktoria Wolffhardt are also set to feature in the battle for podium places.

All will also feature in the C1 category as well, with Czech Republic canoeist Tereza Fiservova adding to the competition for medals.

In the men’s competitions, Florian Breuer of Germany will be looking to defend his title in the under-23 C1 event.

However, he faces stiff competition from Italy’s Raffaello Ivaldi, who has featured on ICF World Cup podiums this year, two-time junior world champion Cedric Joly and Lukas Rohan of the Czech Republic.

Olympic men’s K1 finalist Jakub Grigar will have the backing of his hometown crowd on the water as he battles for gold against junior champion Mario Leitner of Austria and last year’s winner Ruslan Pestov of the Ukraine.
