Lead competitions will be the focus of attention when the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup begins in Chamonix tomorrow.

Action will take place just days after competition was held in Villars, where Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret and France’s Romain Desgranges emerged victorious.

The latter will hope to replicate the achievement when he competes in the men’s event in front of a home crowd in Chamonix.

The Frenchman will expect to face the challenge of Slovenia’s Domen Škofic, who finished as the runner-up on the weekend.

Škofic is the defending World Cup champion.

Canada’s Sean McColl missed the opening competition, but will be hoping to make an impact in Chamonix.

Youth world champion Sam Avezou of France will also be on the start-line, while compatriot Nolwenn Arc will compete in the women’s competition.
