Belgian footballer Vincent Kompany has tried out curling for a new Pepsi Max advertisement.

The 31-year-old Manchester City defender received expert tuition from former world champion Thomas Ulsrud of Norway.

"I didn’t know what to expect," Kompany was reported as saying by The Sun.

"It was pretty much as far out of my comfort zone as I’ve ever been.

"But it was a brilliant new experience thanks to Pepsi Max.

"It’s a great game and I like it.

"You can take something out of everything and bring it back to your life and improve in that way."

Ulsrud is a five-time world medallist with his collection comprising of one gold, one silver and three bronzes.

His sole triumph came in 2014, four years after he had led Norway to Olympic silver at the Vancouver Games.

The 45-year-old also has 11 European medals to his name, including golds from 2010 and 2011.

"This experience with Pepsi Max has been great for me personally - sharing something I am so passionate about with someone who otherwise might never have tried it," he told The Sun.

"It was very rewarding to see the whole team genuinely enjoying it as much as I do - I’m surprised by how quickly Vincent and the team picked it up, then again they are brilliant sportsmen."
