International financial services provider Allianz has signed on as the latest national partner of this year's World Para Athletics Championships in London.

The company, founded in 1890 and whose headquarters are in Munich, will have their brand name featured on the bibs of all athletes due to compete at the event, which runs from July 14 to 23 at the Olympic Stadium.

Allianz is a long-standing supporter of the Paralympic Movement having become the first global partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2006.

They also sponsor the IPC's monthly award, the Allianz Athlete of the Month.

"It is fantastic to have secured Allianz with their excellent record of supporting Para sport and commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and excellence," Championships director Niels de Vos said.

“We are very excited for the upcoming Championships and we know that Para athletics is becoming increasingly popular with spectators, both live and at home on television, and this partnership gives Allianz a massive opportunity to reach a worldwide audience.”

Jean-Marc Pailhol, head of group market management and distribution at Allianz, believes the partnership will provide benefit to the company and the event itself.

"Allianz has been a partner of the Paralympic Movement and disability sport for over ten years now," he said.

"I truly believe that this engagement is making a difference to this world, fostering public awareness and generating greater interest in the topic of disability and inclusion.

“Our partnership with the fascinating sport of Para athletics is just one component to building a more equitable society where all people have equal opportunities."

They follow logistics supplier EFM Global in signing on as a national partner of the event.

London 2017 marks the first time both the World Para Athletics Championships and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships will be hosted in the same city in the same year.

More than 3,000 athletes from more than 200 nations are set to compete over 20 days of action.

The IAAF World Championships are due to be held from August 4 to 13.
