The women’s team sabre competition would see a repeat of last year’s final, with Mexico and the US going head-to-head.

The American team emerged as the winners last year, but Mexico gained revenge after a closely fought contest.

Úrsula González, Paola Pliego, Julieta Toledo and Vanessa Infante combined to give Mexico a 45-40 victory.

The result ended the American domination of the event, who had triumphed at the last seven Championships in the discipline.

Bronze was earned by Venezuela, who beat Canada 45-27.

The Championships will draw to a conclusion tomorrow, with the men's team sabre and women's team foil titles set to be decided.
