The best swimmers from this year's World Para Swimming World Series will be honoured at a ceremony during the 2017 World Championships in Mexico City.

Categories in which awards will be handed out include the best overall men's and women's athletes.

The best high-support-need men’s and women’s athletes (S/SB1-3) will also be recognised along with the best junior men’s and women’s athletes, aged 18 to 21.

Completing the list of categories is the best National Paralympic Committee (NPC), based on the World Series performance score of the two best male and female athletes per NPC.

Each of the winners will receive a high-performance tracker from XMetrics.

"We are very happy to announce the agreement with XMetrics and to be able to offer this prize to the winners of the World Series," World Para Swimming manager Tracy Glassford said.

"It is the first year of the World Series and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the results."

Francesco Quartuccio, vice-president of marketing and sales of XMetrics, added: "We are really happy to contribute to this important event.

"We already support swimmers with visual difficulties to train better and better, and to be selected by the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) has been a great achievement for us.

"Moreover, XMetrics fully shares the IPC's vision to enable Para-athletes to achieve sporting excellence and inspire and excite the world.

"This is what we try to do with every athlete."

There is one event remaining on the 2017 World Series tour with Germany’s capital Berlin set to host from July 6 to 9.

All athletes’ results at each World Series edition are calculated using a standardised points system via an online virtual competition platform.

This ensures that the overall World Series winner will be the best-performing athlete over the duration of the competition, meaning that every performance counts.

Australia impressed at the recent World Series event in Indianapolis with Lakeisha Patterson’s victories in the women’s S8 100 metres freestyle and 100m butterfly events headlining the final day of action.

The 2017 World Para Swimming Championships are scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 6.
