The final Grand Prix of the 2017 World Para Athletics season is set to begin in German capital Berlin tomorrow.

It will provide competitors with one final opportunity to compete before next month's World Championships at the Olympic Stadium in London.

More than 170 athletes from 30 countries are expected to take part over two days of competition at Berlin's Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Sports Park.

South Africa’s Hilton Langenhoven will compete in the 200 metres T12 as well as the long jump T12.

He won Paralympic silver in the 200m and gold in the long jump at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

Reigning world champion David Behre of Germany won the 400m T43 in Berlin last year and leads a host of athletes from the home nation this time round.

After watching his 100m and 200m T43 European records fall to fellow German and track rival Johannes Floors in Paris last month, Behre will be hoping for a strong performance less than one month before his world title defence in London.

Home favourite Sebastian Dietz, who won Paralympic shot put F36 gold last year to add to his world title from Doha in 2015, will also be in action on home soil.

The 32-year-old remains hot favourite to retain his world title and is currently ranked number one in the world after throwing 15.09m earlier this month.

Another German hoping to impress the local crowds is T44 sprinter Irmgard Bensusan, who returned home from Rio 2016 with a hat-trick of silver medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m T44.

Eva Berna of the Czech Republic will compete in the women's shot put F37.

The 31-year-old finished outside of the medals at the last World Championships in 2015 but is currently ranked third in the world behind Chinese duo Na Mi and Yingli Li.

Action in Berlin will conclude on Sunday (June 18) while the World Para Athletics Championships will run from July 14 to 23.
