A special service will be taking place tomorrow at the Utah Olympic Park to commemorate Steven Holcomb.

The three-time Winter Olympic medallist, who won gold in the four-man bobsleigh competition at Vancouver 2010, was found dead in his room at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York, on May 6.

He was 37-years-old and won the overall International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation World Cup title on six occasions.

Last month, a service was held to celebrate Holcomb’s life.

However, another service has been organised at the venue in Park City with anyone else who wishes to pay tribute to the ten-time World Championship medallist in a service starting off at 2pm local time have been invited by the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation and USA Bobsled and Skeleton to attend.

Relatives of Holcomb have requested that donations to a fund set up in his memory for athletes in need of financial support or to GivingVision.org, an organisation which helps keratoconus patients, instead of flowers.

Donations can be made here.

Later in the evenings, Holcomb’s friends, family and other athletes will do a track walk at the venue which was used during the 2002 Winter Olympics hosted by Salt Lake City.

Initial tests on Holcomb’s body by the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, New York, suggest pulmonary congestion as the possible cause of death.

Results from other tests are pending.
