The United States will be looking to win a fourth straight International Swimming Federation (FINA) Women's World League Super Final title when the tournament starts in Shanghai tomorrow.

It will be the third year in a row that the final has been held in the Chinese city with both previous editions won by the US.

The reigning Olympic champions will head to the Natatorium having being crowned winners 10 out of 13 times in the tournament.

However, their defence might not be so straightforward after they suffered defeat in the Intercontinental Water Polo Tournament, a qualifying competition for the Super Final, to Australia in home water at the University of California in Davis.

Although the US topped the group last month, they came unstuck in the final as Australia prevailed 10-7.

Both countries have been separated in the group stage.

Joining the US in Group A are Rio 2016 bronze medallists Russia, Japan and The Netherlands.

Group B features hosts China, Canada and Hungary along with Australia.

All the teams will qualify for the quarter-finals, due to take place on Friday (June 9).

The semi-finals are scheduled to take place the following day before the third place play-off and final happen on Sunday (June 11).
