Hosts South Korea secured their second win in as many games at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup after defeating Argentina 2-1 in Group A today to move into the last 16.

Earlier in the competition, the hosts had defeated Guinea 3-0 and they once again looked on course for victory when Lee Seungwoo put them in front after 18 minutes at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Just two minutes before half time, Paik Seungho doubled the Koreans’ advantage.

Argentina responded soon after the break though when Marcelo Torres scored in the 50th minute.

However, the hosts managed to hold on and secure victory.

In the other match in Group A today, England and Guinea drew 1-1 at the Jeoju World Cup Stadium.

Lewis Cook unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards to put England 1-0 up, but their delight was short lived after gifting their African opponents an equaliser.

Fikayo Tomori, under little pressure on the half-way line, played a blind pass back to goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

But the Manchester United man had vacated his goal and could not prevent it bobbling into the net.

There were also two matches in Group B today.

Venezuela collected their second win of the tournament after they thrashed Vanuatu 7-0 at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium.

Sergio Cordova became the tournament’s top scorer after adding two while goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez converted a penalty in the second half.

The match also featured a goal confirmed with the assistance of the video assistant referee (VAR).

Cordova's first was initially called for offside, but VAR confirmed his effort should stand as the pass in question had rebounded off of a Vanuatu defender.

Venezuela went on to dominate the rest of the match with Jan Hurtado, Williams Velasquez, Adalberto Peñaranda and Samuel Sosa completing the scoring.

In today’s fourth, Mexico and Germany could not be separated as they drew 0-0 in Daejeon.

That result leaves the Germans on just a single point and three behind second placed Mexico.

Action in South Korea is scheduled to continue tomorrow with the second round of matches in Groups C and D.

Group C sees Zambia face Iran and Costa Rica go up against Portugal at the Jeju World Cup Stadium.

South Africa play Italy and Uruguay take on Japan in Goup D at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.
