New partners Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa flourished on a finals day of home domination at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach World Tour event in Rio de Janeiro.

The fourth-seeded Brazilian duo battled to victory in the deciding set against 11th ranked opponents Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan of Canada.

Bednarczuk and Lisboa, who finished second on their World Tour debut in Fort Lauderdale in February, won the first set 21-14 on a converted tennis court in the Olympic Park in Barra de Tijica before being pegged back 21-13 in the second.

They trailed 7-4 in the decider before powering back to triumph 15-13 in a 50 minute encounter.

"I am excited for our team as our expectations are high for each event," said the 33-year old Bednarczuk, who took Olympic silver on nearby Copacabana Beach with Barbara Seixas last year.

"She is only 18 and the sky is the limit for her.

"Each event is different, so the key is playing consistently well with very few mistakes."

Czech Republic claimed a maiden podium finish at an FIVB event in Brazil as seventh seeds Barbora Hermannova and Marketa Slukova won 23-21, 21-18 in 46 minutes in a bronze medal match against fifth-seeded Seixas and new partner Fernanda Alves.

Olympic champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt completed the home sweep by comfortably beating Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak in the corresponding men's final.

The Brazilians defeated the Polish pair for the eighth-straight time on the FIVB World Tour with a 25-23, 21-12 success in 40 minutes.

"The Polish are a tough team to play," said Schmidt.

"It has been a good week for us after starting the season slowly in the United States.

"We started getting our act together once we returned to the Brazilian tour and played our best this week against the world's elite teams."

Italian ninth seeds Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai took bronze after outlasting 13th seeded Americans Casey Patterson and Theo Brunner over three sets.

The European team won 21-15, 24-26, 15-11 in 46 minutes.

FIVB World Tour action will resume on May 31 in Moscow.
