The EOC Coordination Commission visited the Belorussian capital last week to assess preparations for the second continental-wide Games.

The Games programme and the terms of the contract for hosting the event were among the items discussed during the visit.

Plans to include archery and weightlifting on the programme were also reportedly discussed.

The Commission, led by Hellenic Olympic Committee President Spyros Capralos, visited proposed competition venues including the Minsk Arena, the Chizhovka Arena, the Dinamo Stadium, Football Manege, the Minsk Sports Palace and the Palova Arena.

Minsk was confirmed as host of the second Games at the EOC General Assembly in the city last October.

Capralos also led the EOC Coordination Commission for Baku 2015.

The Executive Committee meeting will be led by EOC Acting President Janez Kocijančič, with the Slovenian currently leading the organisation.

He has replaced Pat Hickey, who temporarily stood down from the EOC Presidency and all of his other sporting roles following his arrest at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games last year. 

It followed allegations the Irishman was involved in the illegal sale of tickets for the Games, with Hickey reportedly charged with criminal organisation, ticket touting, ambush marketing, larceny, money laundering and tax evasion.

The 71-year-old could face up to seven years in jail if he is found guilty.

He has denied all the charges against him and was allowed to leave Brazil for medical reasons.

The EOC are due to hold elections at their General Assembly in November this year in Zagreb.

Tomorrow will also see a debrief of the 2017 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Erzurum, which took place over five days in February.

The 13th edition of the Winter EYOF had required the EOC to provide reassurance that all competing athletes would be safe amid heightened terrorism concerns in Turkey. 

However, the event went ahead without incident and Kocijančič described the organisation as "outstanding".

A two-day seminar will take place on May 19 and 20, which will include an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity Forum.

The first workshop will focus on "Europe and the Preparation of Olympic Sport Events", with the second providing insight on the "Evolution of Digital Communication in Sport Events".

The Macedonian Olympic Committee will hold a gala dinner on Friday (May 19), with the event marking their 25th anniversary.
