Hungary's Viktor Lorincz claimed the 85 kilograms Greco Roman title at the European Wrestling Championships in Serbian city Novi Sad.

Lorincz, who was beaten in the semi-finals of last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, eased into the final at the Spens Sport Hall without giving up any points in his three wins.

His run included a 2-0 triumph over Rio 2016 bronze medal finalist Nikolai Bayrakov of Bulgaria in the semi-finals.

Lorincz then beat European Games bronze medallist Metehan Basar of Turkey 3-2 to take the gold medal.

Germany's Ramsin Azizsir collected the first bronze medal and the second was won by Nikolay Nikolaev Bayryakov of Bulgaria.

World champion Balint Korpasi of Hungary was victorious in the 71kg Greco Roman competition.

Korpasi edged Russian champion Abuyazid Mantsigov 2-1 in the semi-finals to set up a final with Pavel Liakh of Belarus.

Korpasi collected a comfortable 4-0 success.

Mantsigov dusted off the disappointment of losing in the semi-final to win one of the bronze medal.

The other was won by Aleksandar Maksimovic of Serbia.

Zurabi Datunashvili of Georgia, last year's champion at 75kg, made the successful step up to 80kg as he claimed gold.

The Georgian overcame Radzik Kuliyeu of Belarus 4-2 for the gold medal.

Russia's Adlan Akiev secured one bronze medal and the second went the way of Turkey's Aslan Atem.

Earlier, Serbia's Dejan Franjkovic shocked the weight division when he eliminated Russia's Rio 2016 gold medallist Davit Chakvetadze.

Franjkovic failed to build on that result, however, as he went on to lose in the round of 16.

Bulgaria's Tarek Abdelsalam was victorious in the 75kg division.

He shocked reigning world champion Chingiz Labazanov of Russia 4-1 to clinch the title.

Tamas Lorincz of Hungary claimed one of the two bronze medals while Kazbek Kilou won the other.

One bronze medal was clinched by Hungarian Tamas Lorincz and the second went to Belarus' Kazbek Kilou.

The medals won by Korpasi and the Lorincz brothers today propelled Hungary to the team title with 57 points.

Russia took second on 51 while Belarus was a distant third with 43 points.

Action also concluded today at the Pan-American Wrestling Championships in Salvador da Bahia in Brazil.

Olympic champion Kyle Snyder won his second continental gold medal to cap off a strong effort from the United States men's freestyle team at the event.

The world number one won 10-0 against the Dominican Republic's Luis Miguel Perez Sosa in the 97kg final.

Compatriot James Green, a 2015 world bronze medallist, replicated that scoreline in overcoming three-time Pan-American medallist Luis Isaias Portillo Mejia of El Salvador.

There were also gold medal match victories for the US at 57kg, 74kg and 125kg through Tyler Graff, Kyle Ruschell and Dominique Bradley respectively.

Graff beat two-time Pan-American bronze medallist Aso Palani of Canada 10-0, while Ruschell overcame Colombia's Nestor Joaquin Tafur Barrios 11-0 and Bradley downed Cuba's Yudenny Alpajon Estevez 3-2.

The remaining three gold medals all went to athletes from Cuba with Dabian Quintana Jaime, Franklin Maren Castillo and Yurieski Torreblanca Queralta all tasting victory.

Quintana Jaime won the 61kg category with a 10-0 technical fall success over home favourite David Washington Dos Santos Moreira.

Maren Castillo won his second Pan-American gold medal after an injury to opponent Franklin Gomez Matos ruled the Puerto Rican out of the 65kg final.

Defending champion Torreblanca Queralta claimed a 12-6 victory over Venezuela's Pedro Francisco Ceballos Fuentes in the 86kg gold medal match.
