The Belgian Sambo Federation (BASFAD) has opened the entry process to the Belgian Sambo Open, due to be held in Tournai in June.

Organisers have claimed the aim of the tournament is "to develop sambo in Belgium and Europe and develop a friendship with other federations and nations".

The competition will take place at the Hall des Sports de la Ville de Tournai, located 90 kilometres from Brussels, on June 10.

Athletes willing to take part in the competition should be registered by their National Federation and by the International Sambo Federation.

The closing date for entries is May 15.

Action will take place across sambo and combat sambo categories.

Sambo action will take place in men's under 62 kilogram, 68kg, 74kg, 82kg, 90kg and over 90kg divisions.

Women's sambo categories in Tournai include under 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 68kg, 72kg and over 72kg.

There will also be a men's veteran event, for competitors over the age of 35, in under 74kg, 82kg, 90kg and over 90kg divisions.

Men's combat sambo will also take place in under 62kg, 68kg, 74kg, 82kg, 90kg and over 90kg categories.

Action will take place on one day with qualification matches scheduled for the morning before finals will complete the event in the open.
