Canada have moved to the top of the World Curling Federation's (WCF) mixed doubles rankings after a runners-up finish at last month's World Championship.

Joanne Courtney and Reid Carruthers were beaten 6-5 by Switzerland's Jenny Perret and Martin Rios on home ice at the ATB Centre in Lethbridge on Saturday (April 29).

However, their run to the final has moved the country onto 457 ranking points, meaning they have climbed five places to the summit.

Switzerland, who won a dramatic final by scoring four points with their final stone, have also climbed five spots into second position with 449.

China are another country to move up five spots after Dexin Ba and Rui Wang won bronze medals by beating Czech Republic's Tomas Paul and Zuzana Hajkova 6-2.

They have 416 points with 2016 world champions Russia dropping two spots to fourth on 403.

Norway are fifth on 388 with 2015 winners Hungary sixth on 351.

Sweden, who topped the pile before the World Championships, have fallen to seventh position on 350 points.

They were knocked out in the last 16 by Latvia in Lethbridge.

Mixed doubles curling will make its debut on the Olympic stage at Pyeongchang 2018 next year.

China, Canada, Russia, Switzerland, the US, Norway, Finland and hosts South Korea will all feature.
