Royston LaHee has been re-elected President of the Grenada Olympic Committee (GOC) to serve a ninth consecutive four-year term.

LaHee was chosen as the GOC's first President back in 1984 and has successfully held the position ever since.

The 73-year-old was re-elected unopposed at the GOC's Special Quadrennial General Meeting in Grenada's capital St George's.

It was held following the Annual General Meeting, which included reports from the Board of Directors, the audited financial statement and the GOC's proposed budget.

At the Quadrennial Meeting, the GOC also voted to increase the number of Board of Directors to eight, four of which are now women.

Former assistant general secretary Lucy Steele and Jane Noel were elected, along with Anya Chow Chung.

Chung's main role will be to assist Veda Bruno-Victor, who was re-elected General Secretary at the meeting.

Charles George, who leads the Grenada Athletics Association, and former Boxing Association of Grenada head Ralph James both retained their places as first vice-presidents.

Kingsley Ashby, a retired banker, was re-elected to serve as treasurer of the organisation.

Grenada have won a total of two medals at the Olympic Games, with 400 metres sprinter Kirani James claiming both.

The 24-year-old star, world champion over two laps of the track in 2011 and the Commonwealth Games gold medallist at Glasgow 2014, became Grenada's first-ever Olympic medallist when he won the 400m race at London 2012.

James then finished second behind South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk in the 400m, who won gold in a world record time, at last year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
