They progressed to the last four at the ATB Centre in Lethbridge after winning their second round and quarter-final clashes.

Hosts Canada had an impressive start to the day as they won 8-3 against Scotland, who had got through the round robin stage unbeaten.

They then went onto beat Latvia, who had seen off Sweden 6-4 in the last 16, 10-5 to reach the semi-finals on home ice.

“We’re extremely pleased with the day,” said Canada’s Joanne Courtney.

“We knew we had to make the semi-final here for Canada to have a spot in the Olympics and we’re just thrilled we got the job done.

“We took all of our lessons from the week and brought them into today’s game.

“We want to bring a medal back to Canada.”

The hosts will face China in the semis after they defeated Russia 8-3 in their first game of the day before winning an-all Asian quarter-final with South Korea 8-2.

Switzerland remain as the only undefeated side in the competition, with the United States losing 6-5 to Finland in the last 16.

Spain were their first opponents of the day and they claimed an 8-5 win before the Swiss beat Norway 8-4 in the quarter-finals.

They will play the Czech team in the semis after they won 8-6 against Hungary and 6-5 over Finland.

The semi-finals and final will take place tomorrow.

Mixed doubles curling will be making its Olympic debut when it features at Pyeongchang 2018.
