Ukraine proved dominant on the third day of competition at the World Shooting Para Sport Grand Prix in Polish city Szczecin.

Both titles on offer today would be claimed by Ukrainian shooters, with Oleksii Denysiuk leading their challenge in the P1 men’s 10m air pistol SH1 competition at the SPORTS OBJECT venue.

Denysiuk, who won two gold medals from the season-opening World Cup in Al Ain during February, triumphed in a head-to-head battle with Serbia’s Rastko Jokic.

The pair would contest the victory at the end of the elimination round, with 28-year-old Denysiuk eventually prevailing by scoring 232.3 points.

Jokic was forced to settle for second on 231.1, while the host nation was able to celebrate a bronze medal for Slawomir Okoniewski.

Okoniewski was eliminated on a score of 209.1, giving Poland their first podium of the event.

Ukrainian success would continue in the R1 men’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 competition, with Andrii Doroshenko triumphing.

He would finish the event with a score of 244.1.

His final shots of 10.1 and 10.2 were enough to defeat France’s Didler Richard to gold, while Germany’s Norbert Gau completed the podium on 223.3.

Competition in Poland will conclude tomorrow with the R5 mixed 10m air rifle prone SH2 event.
