Gold Coast 2018 have confirmed Technogym as official fitness equipment supplier for next year’s Commonwealth Games.

The company will equip Gold Coast 2018 training facilities across Queensland, including the Athletes’ Village gym.

Technogym will also provide equipment for athletic performance centres and four smaller fitness studios across the state.

They were previously an official fitness equipment supplier for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Cameron Murray, Gold Coast 2018 commercial general manager, believes Technogym’s experience makes them a great partner for the Games.

“With a resume that includes equipment supply and sponsorship of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and numerous Olympic Games including Rio 2016, Technogym are a great addition to the ever expanding Gold Coast 2018 sponsor family,” said Murray.

“Technogym will supply the necessary cardio, strength, high performance and recovery apparatus to ensure our athlete’s warm up, warm down and general training needs are taken care of during Gold Coast 2018.”

Athletes at the Games will have the chance to train on a selection of Technogym products covering areas such as cardio, strength and functional training.

All equipment will be integrated with the Mywellness cloud, Technogym’s digital platform which enables them to stay connected to their own personal training programme.

“We are very proud of being chosen as Official Supplier of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games,” said Nerio Alessandri, Technogym founder and chief executive.

“This achievement represents an important recognition of our commitment in research and innovation in order to create the most advanced equipment and digital technology for the world’s elite athletes.”

Technogym state they will provide their newly released SKILLROW at the Games, with the equipment being the first indoor rowing equipment designed to improve anaerobic power, aerobic capacity and neuromuscular abilities in one solution.

Athletes will also have access to SKILLMILL, the only non-motor-driven functional training product - specifically designed for athletic performance training.

It is claimed it allows athletes to train power, speed, stamina and agility exercises with the same product.

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will take place from April 4 to 15 next year.
