Top seed Feng Tianwei of Singapore secured the women's singles title at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Korea Open as she overcame Japan's Kasumi Ishikawa in six games in Incheon.

Feng, winner of the corresponding event back in 2011, battled to a 12-10, 6-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-8, 11-9 triumph against the number two seed to ensure she topped the podium at the Namdong Gymnasium.

The 30-year-old three-time Olympic medallist, including a bronze in the singles at London 2012, was dropped from Singapore's elite programme last October.

"Before the match, I felt very nervous but very excited at the same time to be in the final and I am just happy I could win," Feng said.

"At the moment I don’t practice with the national team in Singapore although I live there.

"I am practising in different clubs and with different private sparring partners, sometimes I even go to China for training."

In the men's singles final, Timo Boll emerged victorious from an all-German affair as he beat Patrick Franziska.

Boll, the former world number one, who carried the German flag at the Opening Ceremony of Rio 2016, has struggled on the international stage but showed flashes of his past glories in a 11-8, 12-10, 12-10, 11-6 win.

The result saw the German player seal the ITTF Korea Open title for the first time in his career.

"I have the feeling, I'm gaining back my skills and abilities but I still feel I need to improve on some physical details such as the footwork," said Boll.

"It won’t be easy playing at home at the forthcoming World Championships but I will feel more electrified than other events.

"I think it's very important to have a good start and then I can improve as the tournament goes on."

Franziska also suffered defeat in the men's doubles final - where he partnered with with Denmark's Jonathan Groth - as they lost to South Korean pair Jang Woo-jin and Jeong Sang-eun.

Jang and Jeong delivered a title for the expectant home crowd with a 11-9, 8-11, 12-10, 7-11, 12-10 victory.

Shan Xiaona and Petrissa Solja of Germany took the women's doubles crown as they defeated Japanese duo of Hina Hayata and Mima Ito, the third seeds, 11-4, 13-11, 3-11, 11-9.
