More than 100 of America’s leading hopefuls for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games are expected to participate in the 2017 Team USA Media Summit, which is scheduled to take place at Canyons Village in Park City in Utah from September 24 to 27.

The Summit organised by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) provides print, broadcast, online and photo journalists with access to the country’s top athletes from all winter sports, all in one place, leading up to the Winter Games.

Members of the media will be able to conduct interviews and capture content through press conferences, round-table sessions, broadcast interviews, photo shoots, sport demonstrations and lifestyle segments.

"We’re thrilled to announce that the 2017 Team USA Media Summit is headed back to beautiful Park City, the home and training centre for so many of our Team USA athletes, and one of the epicenters of winter sports in the United States," said Patrick Sandusky, the USOC’s chief external affairs officer.

"The event will provide US athletes with the opportunity to showcase their personalities and share their Olympic and Paralympic journeys with the hundreds of journalists in attendance - media who are instrumental players in the Olympic and Paralympic Movements - through their in-depth coverage and incredible storytelling.

"We’re looking forward to another productive and spirited Media Summit."

The USOC has hosted the Team USA Media Summit prior to each Olympic Games since 1988.

Previous host cities have included Atlanta, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Park City and Salt Lake City.

Additional details regarding event registration and hotel reservations are due to be announced in June.

Park City played a key role when Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and staged several events, including the Alpine skiing and snowboarding.

It also played host to the Team USA Media Summit prior to the Sochi 2014 Games, where the US ranked fourth in the medal table with nine golds, seven silvers and 12 bronzes.

The US delegation consisted of 230 athletes competing in all 15 sports.
