USA Hockey have set their sights on Pyeongchang 2018, fresh their International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship success, by inviting athletes to a selection camp.

A total of 42 players have been chosen to participate in the camp, which will be held from April 30 to May 4 at the Florida Hospital Center Ice.

All 23 members of the recent World Championship winning squad will be part of the camp, including goaltenders Nicole Hensley, Alex Rigsby and Maddie Rooney, as well as defencemen Kacey Bellamy, Megan Bozek, Kali Flanagan, Megan Keller, Monique Lamoureux-Morando, Emily Pflazer and Lee Stecklein.

Hannah Brandt, Alex Carpenter, Kendall Coyne, Brianna Decker, Meghan Duggan, Amanda Kessel and Hilary Knight were also members of the team.

The latter scored the decisive goal in the gold medal match against Canada, with the United States winning 3-2 in overtime.

Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson, Gigi Marvin, Kelly Pannek, Amanda Pelkey, Haley Skarupa and Kelli Stack complete the representation from the World Championship squad.

The selection camp includes 14 players who were part of the Sochi 2014 Olympic team, which ended with a silver medal.

Goaltender Jessie Vetter, a six-time world champion and two-time Olympic silver medallist, is among those despite moving away from the sport in 2016 and having a baby.

Shelby Amsley-Benzie, Kaitlin Burt, Cayla Barnes, Jincy Dunne, Kelsey Koelzer, Sidney Morin and Jenny Ryan have also been invited to the camp.

They will be joined by Stephanie Anderson, Dani Cameranesi, Shiann Darkangelo, Clair DeGeorge, Zoe Hickel, Caitrin Lonergan, Makenna Newkirk, Annie Pankowski, Melissa Samoskevich, Dana Trivigno and Grace Zumwinkle.

Six goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 24 forwards will participate in total.

The camp will consist of daily practices, off-ice testing and three intra-squad scrimmages, with the Pyeongchang 2018 selection decided at its conclusion.

The Olympic squad will be revealed on May 5, with the chosen players remaining for a further three days of training.

From September, the group will live and train together as the countdown continues to the Olympic Games.

The United States’ World Championship triumph this month came after the players threatened to boycott over a pay dispute.
