Maroua Ibrahmi led Tunisia’s medal charge on the final day of competition at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Tunis.

The double Paralympic gold medallist had earned shot put victory two days ago at the Rades Athletics Stadium, but the home favourite was keen to secure further success in the F31/32 women’s club throw.

Ibrahmi achieved a second gold by producing a throw of 23.35 metres in the event, with her compatriot Saida Nayli finishing some way adrift in second by achieving a distance of 16.61m.

The United Arab Emirates’ Noura Alktebi completed the podium with an effort of 16.52m.

The victory will come as a boost to Ibrahmi, who will seek to defend her shot put and club throw titles at the World Para Athletics Championships in London, during July.

Tunisian throwing success continued with Hania Aidi triumphing in the women’s F54 javelin event, while Yasser Satouri prevailed in the men’s F11/12 discus.

A throw of 18.17m proved enough for Aidi to triumph in her event, with Morocco’s Nezha El Baraka and the United Arab Emirates’ Siham Alrasheedy trailing on 17.19m and 15.35m respectively.

Satouri was equally as dominant in the discus, throwing a distance of 31.23m in front of a home crowd.

His Tunisian team-mate Amir Soltane claimed the silver with 27.38m, while Saudi Arabia’s Ziyad Alkhurayb rounded off the podium positions by achieving a mark of 25.61m.

Morocco’s Youssef Ouaddali would finish the closest to the winner, securing the silver medal with a throw of 7.79m.

The top three was completed by Kuwait’s Mohammad Alenezi, who clocked 31.23.

His compatriot Hatem Nasrallah and Algeria’s Nacer-Eddine Karfas completed the medal positions, finishing the event in 15:45.72 and 15:57.25 respectively.
