The hosts extended their unbeaten run to nine wins and as a result booked their place in the next round.

The Canadians defeated The Netherlands 8-3 in their first match before going on to beat Japan 10-2 later on to guarantee themselves a place in the play-off game between the top two sides at the Northlands Coliseum.

"That’s job number one done, now we’ve just got to make sure we have the hammer, and get ready for the play-offs," said Canadian skip Brad Gushue.

"We’ve got a good grasp of the ice and we’re playing well.

"What we’re doing is working pretty well so far."

In the bottom-of-the-table clash between The Netherlands and Russia was a tight affair, it was the Dutch team that prevailed 6-4 in the 10th end.

It was their first victory of the tournament and lifted them off the bottom of the standings. 

Sweden remain in second place in the overall classification after they also collected two wins today.

They beat Scotland 6-4 in the first match of the day before comfortably defeating Switzerland, who occupy third place, 10-4 later on.

The Swiss team did claim one victory today as Benoit Schwarz scored a single point in the tenth end to seal a 6-4 win.

Following behind Switzerland in fourth place is the United States who won both of their matches.

Three points in the penultimate end helped them to an 8-5 win over Germany before they comfortable beat China 8-2 later on.

Action is set to continue tomorrow with the final stage of round-robin matches.
