Defending champions Germany have been drawn in Group B of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) 2017 Men's Under-23 World Championship in Canada after organisers revealed the schedule for the event.

The European side will take on Britain, the United States, Japan, France and South Africa at the tournament, due to be held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto from June 8 to 16.

Asia Oceania Zone winners Iran have been pitted against European champions Turkey, Brazil, Australia, Italy and hosts Canada in Group A.

Iran will get the tournament up and running when they clash with Australia.

Germany's first match will be against South Africa on June 8.

Other highlights on the opening day include the contest between United States and Britain.

The event features the top junior male wheelchair basketball players from across the world, with 42 matches scheduled to take place over the course of the tournament.

Preliminary round action runs from June 8 to 12, before the play-off round commences on June 14.

More than 400 athletes, coaches, officials, delegates, and volunteers are set to attend the event.

The IWBF has confirmed all matches throughout the duration of the competition will be streamed live on the official event website.

Organisers have also launched their volunteer recruitment process, with 150 people needed to help with the running of the tournament.

"We are thrilled to begin assembling an incredible and dedicated team of volunteers to support the World Championship," said tournament director Wendy Gittens.

"Volunteers are our greatest champions, as they play a vital role in the success of every aspect of the event.

"We welcome all those with the enthusiasm and willingness to learn to apply as a volunteer, even if they aren’t familiar with wheelchair basketball, and we look forward to engaging the local community to help us deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone involved."
