Two Canadians have been named in the World Women's Curling Championship all-star team after the country's dominant performance in Beijing.

The country yesterday defeated Russia 8-3 in the final in China's capital, ensuring they became the first team in the tournament's history to remain unbeaten.

Winning skip Rachel Homan is picked at fourth in the all-star quartet, with the line-up selected using cumulative percentage by position information.

Sweden's Sofia Mabergs has been named as lead, with her country defeated by Russia in the semi-finals.

The Swedes then went on to lose the bronze medal contest to Scotland.

Canada are also represented at second, thanks to Joanne Courtney.

Another Swede in Sara McManus has been selected as third.

The Canadian victory in Beijing, the host of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, saw them retain the world title for the first time since 2008.

They lifted the tournament's new trophy, designed and created by Thomas Lyte of England to mark the World Curling Federation's 50th anniversary.

During the Closing Ceremony, it was announced that China's Bingyu Wang was the winner of the Frances Brodie Award.

The prize is voted for by all the players, to recognise the curler they think best exemplified the sport's values and sportsmanship throughout the event.
