Hosts Brazil won gold medals in men's goalball and wheelchair basketball as the Youth Parapan American Games in São Paulo came to an end today.

The home nation beat rivals Argentina 12-2 in the goalball final, while Colombia took bronze after beating Mexico 10-6.

"It was a game in which we came out more aggressively than in the first round, but we were able to apply our style and managed to wrap up the match in the beginning of the second period," Brazil’s Emerson Silva said.

Wheelchair basketball gold was secured thanks to a 40-30 win over Mexico.

Argentina got the better of Colombia 60-38 for bronze.

It was not all good news for Brazil though as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the football seven-a-side final.

Argentina midfielder Carlos Carrizo opened the scoring in the second-half after taking advantage of an error in the Brazil defence, but Gustavo de Jesus equalised with minutes left to play to send the match to extra time.

A second goal for Carrizo in the second-half of the additional period re-established Argentina's lead, which they managed to preserve to claim the final gold medal of the Games.

Victory avenged Argentina's loss to Brazil in yesterday’s football five-a-side gold medal match.

"Thank god we were able to get this victory against our rivals Brazil," Carrizo said.

"We won thanks to the effort of my team-mates."

Colombia won the bronze medal with a 3-1 win over Venezuela.

Brazil finished top of the medal table with 66 golds, 41 silvers and 32 bronzes.

They were followed by Colombia with 47 golds, 38 silvers and 24 bronzes, and Argentina with 22 golds, 30 silvers and 16 bronzes.

The fourth edition of the Games concluded with a Closing Ceremony at the Exhibition Pavilion of the Anhembi Events Center.

The Ceremony began with the playing of the Brazilian national anthem, followed by the Parade of Nations and the playing of the Paralympic anthem.

Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) President Jose Luis Campo described the Games as the "best ever".

Over the last six days, a record number of more than 800 athletes from 19 countries competed across 12 sports.

"Since Venezuela in 2005, the Youth Parapan American Games have acted as a platform for youngsters to launch their successful sporting careers," Campo said.

"From what I have witnessed this week, I am convinced that there are a number of future Parapan American and Paralympic champions amongst you."

Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) President Andrew Parsons added: "It is hard to put into words how proud of you athletes we all are at this moment.

"You show us that everything is possible with determination and passion.

"You athletes receive a round of applause for what you did inside the field of play and for how you inspired others outside of it.

"We are all part of the Paralympic family of the Americas."
