Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Sofiane Oumiha claimed a split decision win over Mohamed Hamout to secure a home victory for the France Fighting Roosters against Morocco Atlas Lions in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) tonight.

The 22-year-old lightweight, who was beaten to Olympic gold by Brazil’s Robson Conceição in Rio de Janeiro last year, took what proved to be the decisive bout 47-48, 48-47, 48-47 on the judges' scorecards to seal a 3-2 success for the Roosters.

Victory at the Palais Des Sport André-Brouat in Toulouse sees them draw level with Group B leaders the British Lionhearts, who were comfortable 5-0 winners over Italia Thunder yesterday.

The two teams are scheduled to meet at London's York Hall on April 6 in what could be a pivotal match in the battle for top spot.

Flyweight Daniel Asenov begun this evening’s proceedings by putting the Roosters into a 1-0 lead with a unanimous points win over Abdelali Daraa.

The Atlas Lions were soon back on level terms though when the referee was forced into a fourth-round stoppage of fighter Anas Messaoudi’s welterweight contest with Chabane Fehim.

Bakary Diabira re-established the Roosters’ advantage with a 3-0 points victory over Abdelrahman Salah at light-heavyweight before Atlas Lions’ super heavyweight Mohammed Arjaoui defeated Marin Mindoljevic on a split decision  to restore parity once more.

It meant the match came down to the contest between Oumiha and Hamout, which the former edged to make it three wins out of four for the Roosters.

WSB action is due to resume next Friday (March 31) when Group A takes centre stage.

The Argentina Condors welcome Cuba Domadores to the Club Sportivo América in Rosario, while Caciques Venezuela play host to Colombia Heroicos at the Domo José María Vargas in Vargas.
