Canada continued their impressive start to the World Women's Curling Championship as they preserved their 100 per cent record with victories over South Korea and Scotland in Beijing.

The Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medallists are the only side with an unbeaten record at the tournament at the Capital Gymnasium.

They began the fourth day of competition in the Chinese capital, the host city of the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, with a tough encounter with South Korea.

Despite being overwhelming favourites, Canada were not at their best and were made to work hard by their opponents before wrapping up a 9-8 success.

Canada skip Rachel Homan again proved crucial as she scored four points in the seventh end to give them an 8-5 lead, effectively killing the game as a contest.

The Canadians then returned later in the evening to beat Scotland 8-2, giving them their seventh straight victory.

"It’s easy to maintain the focus because there are so many good teams here and you have to be on your ‘A’ game no matter who you’re playing, it makes you focus that much harder," Homan said.

"There’s lots of parts of the game that we’re looking at and trying to improve.”

Sweden currently occupy second place with a six win and one loss record as they comfortably overcame the Czech Republic 10-4, before they ousted defending champions Switzerland 9-4.

"That was a great team effort and we played really well from lead to skip, so it was a good one," Sweden skip Anna Hasselborg said after the win against Switzerland.

"The ice is really good, it suits our play so that's okay."

The Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland and the United States are locked in a four-way battle for third spot.

They have each picked up four victories while also suffering three defeats.

The tournament in Beijing continues tomorrow.
