The Open European Beach Korfball Championship will take place between August 19 and 20 and will be held in The Hague in The Netherlands.

Due to be staged at the Hague Beach Stadium, the tournament will be organised by the Royal Dutch Korfball Association (KNKV).

The IKF claim that beach korfball is popular in multiple countries across all continents, especially among younger age groups.

Matches will be contested between teams of three in the senior and under-19 categories.

Each team will consist of a maximum of six players, and must be made up of three men and three women.

The smaller version of the game is being used by the IKF "to make it easier for National Associations to initiate new korfball activities and reach new players", the governing body has claimed.

The IKF also believes it will "create more equality between the teams and lower costs for National Associations by having fewer athletes involved". 

Beach matches consist of four quarters of two-and-a-half minutes each, with a 45-second rest between each quarter.

National Federations have until May 1 to enter teams for the tournament.

The draw for the group stages will then take place in July.
