Astana Arlans Kazakhstan extended their lead at the top of Group C in the World Series of Boxing after a 4-1 win over the Russian-based Patriot Boxing Team.

On home ground in the Taraz Arena, Astana have now won all four of their matches in this season’s competition.

The action started well as Olzhas Sattibayev was too strong Viacheslav Tashkarakov in the flyweight bout, with the referee stopping the fight in the third round.

Zakir Safiullin then picked up an unanimous points victory in the lightweight fight against Artur Subkhankulov before Aslanbek Shymbergenov added a third win for the hosts in the same manner over Shakhabas Makhmudov in the welterweight tie.

In the light-heavyweight bout, Arman Rysbek picked up a split decision victory against Pavel Silyagin.

But Astana could not make it a clean sheet as Magomed Omarov defeated Olzhas Bukayev in the super-heavyweight category.

There was a whitewash in the other match in Group C as the Uzbek Tigers won all five of their bouts against China Dragons in Tashkent.
