Yukiko Inui and Mai Nakamura had already claimed bronze in the technical duets competition yesterday and the duo were part of the victorious 10-member team today at the Centre Nautique Maurice Thorez.

The team achieved a score of 92.0667 to top the standings in the competition, holding off the challenge of rivals Ukraine.

A score of 91.4333 was enough for Ukraine to secure the silver medal, with China rounding off the top three on 84.6667.

There was disappointment for the host nation as France ended outside the medal places, finishing fourth on 84.3667.

Despite their success in the free team event, Japan were forced to settle for silver in the free duets and free mixed duets.

London 2012 Olympic silver medallists Jiang Tingting and Jiang Wenwen of China won the free duets crown as the duo scored 92.7333.

Japan’s Inui and Kanami Nakamaki were the runners-up with 91.7667, while Ukraine’s Anna Voloshyna and Yelyzaveta Yakhno came third with 90.1000.

The mixed event saw Italy’s Manila Flamini and Giorgio Minisini top the podium as the European Championship silver medallists scored 86.3000.

It added to their victory in yesterday's technical routine.

A score of 84.6667 was comfortably enough for Japan’s Atsushi Abe and Yumi Adachi to win the silver, with Germany’s Amelie Ebert and Niklas Stoepel third on 70.3667.

Ukraine’s Anna Voloshyna, who topped the preliminary standings in the free solos event yesterday, backed up that display by winning today’s competition.

Voloshyna achieved a score of 92.7000, with Japan’s Inui and Canada’s Jacqueline Simoneau completing the podium on 91.5000 and 89.1000 respectively.
