Anton Aristarkhov secured two gold medals today in junior air pistol event at the European 10 metres Shooting Championship in Maribor today.

The Russian provided dominant nearly all the way through both his individual and team finals at the Hotel Habakuk and Dras Center.

The only nervous moment came during the 21st and 22nd shot of the former final when he briefly lost the lead to Italian Paolo Monna.

This proved a temporary blip, however, as he fought back to take gold with a score of 239.8 points.

"I feel very good after the competition, my performance could be better, but it came out the best way at the end," he said afterwards.

"I’m very happy to win the gold medal."

Monna settled for silver just 0.1 behind while Ernests Erbs of Latvia took a distant bronze with 216.7.

Aristakhov then joined Alexander Petrov and Mikhail Isakov to win Russian gold in the corresponding team event.

Germany took silver and Ukraine bronze.

Jade Bordet of France won the women's junior 10m air rifle event with a score of 249.1.

Isabelle Johansson of Sweden scored 247.3 while Anna Janssen of Germany managed 226.7.

Anna Janssen, Verena Schmid and Jana Heck claimed German gold in the team event as Serbia took silver and Italy the bronze.
