Astana Arlans Kazakhstan extended their lead in Group C of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) to five points after thrashing China Dragons at the Atyrau Culture and Wellness Centre.

The two-time champions triumphed 5-0 to record their third straight win of the campaign, keeping the Dragons in third place with three points.

An entertaining light flyweight bout began proceedings, with the Arlans’ experienced Temirtas Zhussupov looking to assert himself on the Dragons’ He Junjun.

Zhussopov increasingly engaged Junjun as the contest wore on, forcing the Chinese to counter and leaving himself exposed to some devastating combinations, which earned the Kazakh a unanimous points win and set the home side on their way.

That was to be the closest the visitors came to a win, with Kazakhstan’s London 2012 Olympian Ilyas Suleimenov then showing good form to take all five rounds in a comprehensive victory over Wang Long at bantamweight.

The new-look Kazakh squad called upon Dilmurat Mizhitov in the night’s third bout, which saw the 21-year-old light welterweight get off to a strong start and twice put opponent Liu Yang on the canvas in a comfortable win.

With the points secured at 3-0 up, the Arlans' Saparbay Aidarov made his debut against Zhao Minggang at middleweight.

The Kazakh southpaw took the lead early on and continued to keep his opponent at bay to earn a unanimous points win from the judges.

That left Kazakhstan’s Asian Games winner and Asian Confederation champion Anton Pinchuk to complete the 5-0 whitewash with a dominant display against the Dragons’ Belarusian import Siarhei Novikau.

Just as he had on debut in Moscow last month, Pinchuk quickly found his best fighting distance and left Novikau unable to land enough meaningful punches to gain a foothold in the bout.

Today’s other Group C saw last year’s semi-finalists Uzbek Tigers inflict an emphatic 5-0 defeat on the Patriot Boxing Team at the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent.

Talented bantamweight Abdulkhay Sharakhmatov got the match underway against Russia’s newcomer Dmitrii Sharafutdinov, claiming a unanimous decision to give the hosts an early lead.

Elnur Abduraimov’s move up to light welterweight continued to reap rewards in the evening’s second bout as he edged an evenly-balanced contest against Patriot's Radmir Abdurakhmanov.

Middleweight Israil Madrimov then ensured all three points for the Tigers after beating another of the Patriot's newcomers this season, Radzhab Radzhabov.

Uzbekistan’s two-time national champion Zukhriddin Makhkamov has also moved up a weight for this season and showed that he is adapting well with a unanimous win over Patriot's Islam Tekeev at heavyweight.

That left Olympic light flyweight champion Hasanboy Dusmatov to take to the ring against the Patriot's Bator Sagaluev and the Uzbek controlled all five rounds to complete the rout.
