The hosts claimed a narrow 8-7 win over Scotland to record their seventh win in as many games.

The game swung back and forth in almost every end and, in the 10th, Scotland’s skip Cameron Bryce had a chance to score two points for the win.

His hit was too strong, giving Scotland just a single point.

This tied the game at 7-7 and forced an extra end.

Bryce’s last tap-up then proved to be just millimetres short, giving the Koreans the one point they needed for the win without having to play their last stone.

"I am very psyched and happy that we have got into the play-offs," South Korean skip Ki Jeong Lee said.

"Rather than showing the people a fancy-complicated game, we stuck to the basics - I think that is the secret to our wins."

Canada and the United States also won today to remain in joint second on five wins and two defeats.

The US first defeated Turkey 10-1 before beating Norway 5-3, while Canada edged Switzerland 8-3.

It was a mixed day for the Swiss, though, as they managed a 9-4 win over China, while Scotland collected a 7-5 win over Italy after their defeat to the hosts.

Italy suffered a second defeat of the day when they were beaten 8-5 by Sweden.

There were also four women's matches today as Canada, one of three teams leading overnight, were stunned 10-1 by Japan.

After scoring one in the first end, Japan benefited from what Canada’s skip Kristen Streifel described as their "tricky times", taking three points in the second end, two points in the third end and three points in the fourth end for a 9-1 lead.

The Canadians took a single point in the fifth end, but Japan captured one final point in the sixth to end the game 10-1.

The other two overnight leaders, Scotland and Sweden, both won their matches today.

Sweden defeated South Korea 7-4 and the Scots overcame the US 7-2.

Hungary won their first match of the women's tournament, defeating Turkey 12-11.

The tournament is serving as a test event for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.
