Germany’s Isabell Werth claimed her fourth victory of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Dressage World Cup Western European League at Neumunster in Germany today.

Werth, the six time Olympic Games gold medallist, earned a score of 82.455 which was good enough to secure her place at the top of the podium.

She already had a hat-trick of wins under her belt so far this season following victories in Lyon, Stuttgart and Amsterdam.

Those wins were all achieved aboard 12-year-old mare Weihegold FRH but it was 15-year-old Don Johnson who proved successful for the 47-year-old rider today.

Runner-up was 2015 World Cup champion Helen Langehanenberg aboard 15-year-old Damsey FRH, after they scored 79.150.

The Netherlands’ Madeleine Witte-Vrees dropped into third on a total of 77.765 while Switzerland’s Marcela Krinke-Susmelj, finished fourth with Smeyers Molberg after amassing a total of 75.620.

“He was really super today, really happy and focused so I enjoyed it and could take a lot of risk," said Werth.

"The atmosphere here is always difficult but I was fairly confident, even though you never know exactly what’s going to happen - especially with Johnny."

Following today's competition in Neumunster, Werth extended her lead at the top of the World Cup standings and now leads on 80 points.

Kristy Oatley of Australia occupies second on 55 with Great Britain's Carl Hester in third, just behind on 54.
