Austria’s Reinhold Schett and Lisa Bunschoten of The Netherlands both clinched their second consecutive banked slalom victories on the final day of the Para Snowboard World Cup at La Molina in Spain.

Schett edged closer to Dutchman Chris Vos, the current leader on the overall standings, by winning the men's SB-LL1 with a best time of 41.39sec.

Vos did enough for second, while Mark Mann of the United States was third fastest to continue his excellent debut season.

Current points leader and World Championships silver medallist Bunschoten sealed her third triumph of the event in La Molina having topped the podium in the snowboard cross event earlier in the week by clocking the three fastest times in the women's SB-LL2 event.

The Dutch rider's best effort saw her cross the line in 44.04, with Astrid Fina Paredes of Spain and team-mate Renske van Beek finishing second and third respectively.

Finland’s world title holder Matti Suur-Hamari bounced back from a disappointing fourth-place result yesterday as he edged a closely-fought men's SB-LL2 competition.

Suur-Hamari produced a quickest time of 38.90 and Paralympic gold medallist Evan Strong looked on course to beat his time before he fell 0.02 short.

Strong had to settle for the silver medal after missing out on top spot, while Keith Gabel of the US earned bronze.

American snowboarder Mike Minor took the men's SB-UL honours in what proved to be another tight contest as eventual silver medallist and yesterday's winner Manuel Pozzerle of Italy was just 0.65 slower.

Minor's quickest run stopped the clock at 40.45, with Pozzerle recording 41.10.

France’s Maxime Montaggioni was the recipient of the bronze medal.

Competitors on the Para Snowboard World Cup circuit will next head to Pyeongchang next month.

The competition, due to be held from March 10 to 13, will serve as the World Cup Finals as well as a test event for the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in the South Korean resort.
