South Korea produced another dominant display as they won three races at the International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track World Cup in Minsk.

The Asian nation took victory in three of the four races to be held on the penultimate day of the final ISU World Cup event of the season in the Belarusian capital, with China winning the other.

Lee Hyo-been led a South Korean podium sweep in the men's 1,500 metres race, crossing the line in front of Hong Kyung-Hwan and Lim Yong-Jin in a time of 2min 18.179sec.

The result had little bearing on the overall World Cup standings for the distance, however, as Dutchman Sjinkie Knegt had already sealed the title.

South Korea also enjoyed success in the women’s event as Noh Ah-Rum claimed a comfortable win.

Noh finished nearly 13 seconds quicker than nearest challenger Ekaterina Efremenkova of Russia, stopping the clock at 2:28.349.

Italy’s Lucia Peretti did enough for third.

South Korea’s other triumph in Minsk came in the men's 1,000m as Hwang Dae-heon overcame the challenge posed by Knegt and Kazakhstan's Nurbergen Zhumagaziyev respectively.

China’s Liu Yang won the opening women’s 1,000m race of the event, clocking 1:32.389, which saw her finish in front of Japan's Shione Kaminaga and Italy's Cynthia Mascitto.

Overall titles will be up for grabs in two distances tomorrow, with action due to take place in the men’s and women’s 500m and 1,000m events.

Several leading athletes have decided not to compete in Minsk, however, with the World Short Track Championships in Rotterdam looming next month.

Some of these could consequently lose their respective World Cup leads.

This includes Marianne St-Gelais of Canada in the women’s 500 metres as well as Dajing Wu of China in the corresponding men's event.

The ISU Short Track World Cup season will conclude tomorrow.
