Israel's Yoav Omer and Emma Wilson of Britain secured gold in the boys' and girls' RS:X events respectively as five titles were decided on the penultimate day of racing at the Youth Sailing World Championships in Auckland.

Omer and Wilson both had commanding leads at the top of the leaderboards and were able to clinch world titles with a race to spare in New Zealand water.

Wiley Rogers and Jack Parkin of the United States won the boys' 420 crown as they earned two victories today, while Tim Mourniac and Charles Dorange of France are guaranteed gold in the Nacra 15, which is making its Youth Sailing World Championships debut.

Dorange has now won three gold medals at this level.

Australian pair Natasha Bryant and Annie Wilmot have been confirmed as the winners of the girls' 29er class.

They lead Aleksandra Melzacka and Maja Micinska of Poland by 22 points.

Omer had taken a giant step towards the RS:X world title with a hat-trick of race wins on day two and repeated the feat to give him an unassailable lead at the summit of the standings.

The Israeli competitor has 14 points, 29 in front of second-placed Dutchman Sil Hoekstra, and now cannot be caught.

Mack van den Eerenbeemt of Aruba currently sits in third position and will battle with Hoekstra for silver tomorrow.

"It's an incredible feeling and I am so happy to win before the last day," said Omer, who could not compete as last year's edition of the event after Israel withdrew following claims of discrimination in host nation Malaysia.

"I can't really describe how I feel now.

"For sure my friends and family will be happy."

It would have also taken a disastrous ending to the competition for Wilson to be usurped at the top of the girls' RS:X standings and she finished third, fourth and first to seal the title.

Katy Spychakov of Israel is second on 32 points, 11 adrift of Wilson, while Yue Tan of China is third on 39.

Mourniac and Dorange had led the way from the start in the Nacra 15 competition and have an insurmountable 23-point advantage in gold medal position, meaning they will depart Auckland as world champions in the class.

Italy's Gianluigi Ugolini and Maria Giubilei, Americans Romain Screve and Ian Brill and Belgium's Henri Demesmaeker and Isaura Maenhaut will have a three way shoot-out on the final day to claim the other two medals.

Following Rogers and Parkin being guaranteed gold in the boys' 420 event, Israel's Ido Bilik and Ofek Shalgi will now have to take on Argentina's third placed sailors, Fausto Peralta and Martin Arroyo Verdi, for silver.
