Hosts New Zealand is guaranteed to win three medals after a successful final day of group stage matches at the World Bowls Championships in Christchurch today.

In wet conditions the men's four, women's pair and men's singles teams all won their respective sections to advance straight to the semi-finals, guaranteeing them at least a bronze medal each.

However, it was not all good news for the hosts as the women's triples team missed out despite winning all of their final three matches.

Led by skip Ali Forsyth, the men's four, which also includes Mike Nagy, Mike Kernaghan and Blake Signal, won all three of their games today at Burnside Bowls Club to finish with a perfect record.

Their 36-4 win against South Africa and 23-17 win against second-placed Scotland sealed their progression with a match to spare, before they beat Wales 14-13 in their final contest.

They will now play the winner of the Scotland v England play-off for the right to contest the gold medal.

Meanwhile, Jo Edwards and Angela Boyd ensured New Zealand's women's pair reached the semi-finals with a comfortable 17-7 win against Israel in round eight at Fendalton.

While they did slip up in round nine, losing 22-15 to England, the top spot in the section was already secured.

Wales won the other section while Boyd and Edwards now await the winner of the Australia v England play-off.

Edwards is aiming to win her third gold medal in the women's pair, having previously won it in both 2004 and 2008.

Elsewhere, New Zealand's Shannon McIlroy won all three of his singles games at Burnside Bowls Club to complete an emphatic day for the hosts.

McIlroy advanced as the section winner courtesy of his better points difference over Wales' Jonathon Tomlinson.

The bronze medallist in the singles four years ago will play either Tomlinson or Australian Aron Sherriff in the semi-finals.

Despite a largely successful day for the hosts, the women's triple of Val Smith, Kirsten Edwards and Katelyn Inch were left to rue losing all three matches yesterday after finishing one spot outside of the play-offs in fourth at Bowls Papanui.

Malaysia and Australia won the triple sections, leaving England, Wales, South Africa and Scotland to battle for the last two spots in the semi-finals.

Tomorrow morning, play-offs to reach the last four of this week's competitions will take place before semi-final matches then take centre stage in the afternoon.
