Lindsay Lewis has been named as Scotland’s sport team manager for aquatics at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Lewis' appointment was announced by Commonwealth Games Scotland and Scottish Swimming, with her wealth of experience as a team manager key to the decision.

She has acted as a team manager for both the 2015 and 2016 Scottish Swimming training camps in Australia, with the latter forming a key part of preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Additionally, Lewis worked as British Swimming’s team manager for the inaugural European Games in Baku in 2015 and at multiple European Junior Championships.

"I’ve worked with Lindsay on several national team meets and camps and she is a great addition to the aquatics team heading to the Gold Coast," said Alan Lynn, national coach at Scottish Swimming.

"She is calm, extremely well organised and has a great ‘can-do’ approach to everything.

"I’m delighted that she is on board so early in the process ahead of what will be a busy 16 months."

Lewis will start work with the aquatics squad in March 2017 and is the first of 18 sport team managers to be announced by Commonwealth Games Scotland.

The remaining 17 are expected to be named in early 2017.

Lewis, who volunteered as a Clydesider during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, said she was honoured to be taking up the post.

"I loved volunteering in Glasgow," she said.

"I could see everything that was happening with the team but was watching what was going on from the outside.

"There was a great buzz around the place and I felt very proud, not just when the athletes won medals, but watching them work together and support each other.

"I’m very honoured to have been given this opportunity and will work hard to ensure that the only focus that the coaches and swimmers have is that of performance."
