The two-day workshop in the 2018 Winter Games host city is part of the "Actualising the Dream – Road to Pyeongchang 2018", which is being run collaboratively by the two organisations.

Officials from South Korea, Japan, Tajikistan, China, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Armenia, United Arab Emirates, Chile, Brazil and Argentina are taking part in the event.

It is hoped the two days of training will help to enhance the skills and knowledge of winter Para sports and boost regional cooperation and partnerships.

Head of International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Snow Sports Dimitrije Lazarovski and former Canadian ice hockey coach George Kingston are among those set to provide training, along with experts from the Agitos Foundation, the IPC’s development arm.

"After a successful workshop for sport managers in Europe and several other training and development activities across the six Paralympic winter sports, we are happy to be helping the progress of the these Para sports in Asia," said Georg Schlachtenberger, director of the Agitos Foundation.

"Over two days, participants will engage in discussions about their own organisational capacity, the activation and development of winter Para sports, partnerships and fundraising, preparing for competitions and regional cooperation.

"'Actualising the Dream – Road to Pyeongchang 2018' offers them the unique chance to learn from each other, share their experiences and hopefully go on to make improvements to their own programmes.

"We look forward to seeing some of their athletes at major competitions in the future, during an exciting time for Para sport in the region."

Pyeongchang 2018 and the Agitos Foundation have developed 13 programmes aimed at raising public awareness of the Games.

Their projects have been aimed at increasing participation in para-sport and growing the profile of the Paralympic Movement.

Serbia have held two events to date, with 20 Alpine skiers, snowboarders, their coaches and guides from seven countries participated in education and training workshops in January.

This was followed by a sport managers and coaches workshop in February, which took place alongside the IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships C-Pool.

The last of the European sessions took place in Tallinn, with wheelchair curlers taking part in a session in Estonia.

A further session is planned to take place in Pyeongchang during March, where an ice sledge hockey technical officials’ course and training camps in cross-country skiing, biathlon and ice sledge hockey will be organised.
