Romain Duguet won the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup Jumping Western European League leg in Helsinki for the second year in a row today.

The Swiss triumphed on board Quorida de Treho following a jump-off featuring 15 horse and rider combinations.

He was one of six riders to go double clear as he completed the jump-off in the quickest time of 30.96 seconds.

It means that he has retained the title he won last year in the Finnish capital.

"I have been riding her since she was seven years old and she’s 12 now and has always been in my stables, so we are a team," Duguet said.

"The best thing about her is that she always tries her hardest on the big days."

France’s Mathieu Billot claimed second place today on Shiva d’Amaury, going clear in the jump-off in 32.70sec.

Germany’s Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum clinched third in a time of 32.78sec following her second clear round.

Today’s result sees Duguet share equal-fourth place on the Western European League table with Italy’s Alberto Zorzi who won last weekend’s opening round of the 13-leg series in Oslo in Norway.

Leading the standings is Belgium’s Pieter Devos who finished fourth with Dream of India Greenfield today.

The season continues in Lyon in France on Sunday (October 30).
